{Nomad}
So I am beginning to feel like somewhat of a nomad, with business trips back to back, the time zones and cities all becoming a massive blur. One thing I have taken away from my travels is how to pack efficiently! I used to be the girl who packed 10 pairs of shoes and a bevy of clothing options for 2 a day trip, but some seriously sore arms later, I’ve reformed my ways. Stay tuned for a post on how to travel efficiently.

I think I have exhausted every possible thing that can be said about shirt dresses. Fortunately though, I have yet to exhaust new ways in which to wear them! I removed the belt which originally came with the dress, a slipped a beautiful necklace (which The Limited kindly sent me from their Fall collection) beneath the collar, and added a pair of black suede stilettos.

{Lost Files}
This photo set is one of those that’d seemingly gotten lost in the shuffle. Every time I don a shirt dress, I think of what new and original thing I can say about it. But there’s really not all that much to say, other than shirt dresses are simple, straightforward, and fit the professional bill.
I am a huge fan of houndstooth prints, it doesn’t matter on what it’s printed, so when I saw this gem I snatched it up. In order to add a bit of life and personal style, I paired it with a red blazer and black bow pumps.

{Grand Opening: The Limited - Robinson}
So a few weeks ago I received an email asking if I’d come to the Grand Opening of a new The Limited store in my area. Seriously?! Well of course!
Even if I wasn’t asked to blog about the event or even The Limited, I would in all likeliness mention that store on my blog. Any longtime readers know that many of my wardrobe staples are from there, and for good reason. One of greatest challenges of being a young woman scaling the corporate ladder is dressing conservatively enough for the office, yet maintaining a youthful sense of style. The standard corporate uniform of suits, cardigans, and collared blouses can be so mundane, un-original, and un-inspiring.
This is where my love for The Limited comes into play; They have all of the wardrobe essentials a corporate fashionista needs, and have taken classic iterations and punched them up with modern fabrics. Sequined cardigan, tweed motorcycle jacket, gold metallic houndstooth trousers, need I say more?
But there is more: The Limited is one of the places I would rather still shop in person than online. Why? At every single store I’ve been to, the staff has always been extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and above all WELL DRESSED.
When I attended the 11/1/2012 opening of The Limited at The Mall at Robinson in Pittsburgh, I had an awesome time, got some fantastic pieces which I’ll be showcasing shortly on the blog. I’d like to thank the lovely ladies on the Limited’s staff for their help, and Brittnee for inviting me to the event! Now through Sunday The Limited is offering 40% off of purchases in stores and online, so hurry and pick up some great items for your wardrobe! Additionally, The Limited has graciously offered a $50 gift card for one of my readers! Entry is simple, head on over to my Facebook page and “like” to be entered to win. I’ll announce the winner on Monday November 12th!

*Yep, it’s ironic that I didn’y wear any Limited brand pieces that day, but hey, I keep it real and I wore what I felt like wearing that day.

{All Black Everything}
It’s no secret that I love all things sophisticated and chic. For me, being shrouded in sophistication ensures that I hold my head higher and walk with an assertive gracefuless. Black is truly one color that can be relied upon to take a garment from pretty to sophisticated or perfectly chic; Take for example fashion’s ubiquitous darling, the ‘little black dress’. This is my wear-to-work version, which could easily be adapted for a night out.

When looked in the mirror after donning this particular ensemble, I was startled by how much I resembled my mother circa 1990. My mom always dressed to the nines, perfectly coiffed, and NEVER wore jeans. She then, and now has always displayed an immense amount of polish and exuded pure elegance, the quintessential definition of a ‘lady’. While my affinity towards cheeseburgers and pasta have guaranteed that I not have my mom’s svelte figure (EVEN post-3 children), the pairing of a peplum blazer and pencil skirt are flattering to a wide range of figures.

Ever have one of those days you just happen upon an amazingly simple yet perfect outfit? I love it when I am feeling completely uninspired and then a fabulous outfit AND perfect hair day happen! If only I could just not actually work and go shopping instead it would make for a utopic day. A girl can dream, right? Until then I’ll settle for pairing oversized print patterns (shh…it’s actually a dress!) with $.99 skirts, a touch of heel, and perfect effing hair.

I am so incredibly excited that fall is upon us on the East Coast! At pretty much the first reasonable opportunity I pulled out this tweed/pleather jacket that I got last year and thought of a way in which to reinvent it. Pretty much every single day I go into the office, my aim is to look professional but with a clearly defined sense of style. Lately, I have gravitated towards what I would consider a ’rocker-off-duty’ sort of infusion. Instead of a traditional blazer, I opted to pair this jacket with a basic black pencil skirt, and a deep plum short (only 3 inches) stiletto with a pointed toe.

I am a bit behind on my outfit posts this week (sorry), but unintentionally found myself wearing sleeveless blouses almost everyday. I suppose I am really trying to get as much use out of them as I can until the weather becomes too cold to do so. I’ve exclusively worn dresses and skirts over the past 2 weeks and decided to give it a rest and throw on a pair of ankle length trousers. Coupled with a simple, sleeveless bow blouse, the soft pink trousers offset the boldness of the top and candy colored shoes.
